Dear Diary,
2) we signed the theater rental agreement and paid the deposit on October 9, 2007;
3) we obtained permission from the Rio Tinto Foundation and the Museum of Rio Tinto Mines to use information and photographs from their Web sites, on October 15, 2007;
4) we hired our web developer on October 17, 2007;
5) we confirmed the availability of our official photographer for the event, Cindy Quezada (some of whose photos of the performers are displayed on this site), on October 28, 2007; and
6) we completed our ticket agent form on October 21, 2007 … and we signed our contract on October 29, 2007. Our tickets are on sale at: http://www.smarttix.com/show.aspx?showcode=FLA6
7) and our dearest friends and colleagues, Raul Ortega and Antonio Urban Ruger (“El Pola”) confirmed their ability to assist us in this production. They are appearing gratis, and we are full of gratitude to them for their unconditional support.
We administrators have been busily researching the Rio Tinto mines, mining in general, and songs sung by miners of Andalusia (there are regional mining songs, apart from traditional flamenco ones). The artists themselves already know this information (having grown up in Southern Spain) but we’d like to be familiar with it too! We are preparing text for our website and blog to share with our audience because we think it will help give more meaning to the performance. We also like engaging our audience this way - to make the event a more interactive experience. Once we post what we’ve learned, we hope you will share your thoughts, questions, and comments! Stay tuned for more . . .
